Capella University improves affordability of seven online MS in Psychology specializations

January 30, 2013

A streamlined curriculum delivers learning outcomes with greater efficiency and cost savings

MINNEAPOLIS, January 30, 2013 – Capella University, an accredited online university* that has built its reputation by providing high-quality online degree programs for working adults, has announced the redesign of seven MS in Psychology specializations to help students achieve their educational goals in less time and at lower cost. To make the specializations more affordable, the curriculum has been streamlined to maximize efficiency while delivering the same learning outcomes. The learning and career outcomes of Capella’s students and alumni can be found at www.capellaresults.org.

The MS specializations include General Psychology; Educational Psychology; Child and Adolescent Development; Evaluation, Research, and Measurement; Leadership Coaching Psychology; Industrial/Organizational Psychology; and Sport Psychology. The redesigned curriculum focuses on efficiency, quality, and the advanced skills that employers demand. While retaining the same learning outcomes, the number of courses and credits has been reduced. Students who complete their entire program save up to $6,450 and nine months time compared to the previous Capella curriculum for these specializations and up to $7,000 over the cost of comparable online programs.

"This redesign demonstrates our ongoing commitment to helping students earn a degree in the most affordable way possible, without sacrificing the academic quality for which Capella has become known," said Scott Kinney, president of Capella University. "We surveyed current and prospective students, and got a clear message that while affordability is important, academic quality is paramount. Our goal is also to improve our students’ chances of earning their MS in Psychology by making it possible for them to achieve the same learning outcomes in less time. We have been measuring learning outcomes for many years and have systems in place to ensure that our streamlined curriculum continues to deliver the same outcomes that our students and their employers demand."
