MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 1, 2013 - Capella University (http://www.capella.edu), a regionally accredited online university* that offers online degree programs designed to help working adults advance in their careers, has announced a Magnet® Hospital grant opportunity. Employees of Magnet® hospitals who enroll in a BSN, MSN, DNP, MHA or DHA online degree program and meet all eligibility requirements will be eligible for a $3,000 grant if they begin a Capella degree program between Jan. 6 and April 7, 2014.

The Magnet Recognition Program® recognizes healthcare organizations for quality patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in professional nursing practice, according to the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). In response to that report, health care organizations are looking to increase their bachelor's degree-prepared RN staff to 80 percent, and double the number of nurses with a doctorate by 2020.

ANCC National Magnet Conference® The ANCC National Magnet Conference in Orlando, Fla., Oct. 1-4, is expected to draw nearly 7,000 nurse attendees. Capella, which is participating in the conference, is asking nurses to share in one word what "Nurse Leader" means to them via Twitter using the hashtag #NurseLeader.
