Capella University, an accredited online university, to help feed the hungry in San Francisco through its Inspire Giving initiative

Join students, alumni, faculty, and friends of the online university by sorting food at the San Francisco Food Bank warehouse April 3

MINNEAPOLIS, March 20, 2012 - Capella University, an accredited online university* that has built its reputation by providing high quality online degree programs for working adults, is partnering with the San Francisco Food Bank to host a volunteer event on Tuesday, April 3. From 6 to 8 p.m., Capella students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends will be sorting food with the goal to get thousands of pounds of food to those that need it most.

San Francisco Food Bank, which provides food to nearly 225,000 people in San Francisco and Marin or about 83,000 meals' worth of food every day, is a featured nonprofit for Capella's Inspire Giving program.

The deadline to register for this event is March 27. This is one of several volunteer events that Capella has hosted in the past couple of years to help those less fortunate. Past events have taken place in locations such as New York, Atlanta, and Seattle.

As of Dec. 31, 2011, more than 37,000 students are pursuing an online degree at Capella, with nearly 80 percent enrolled in Capella's doctoral degree programs and master's degree programs. The learning and career outcomes of Capella's students and alumni can be found at www.capellaresults.org.
