MINNEAPOLIS, May 15, 2012 – Capella University (http://www.capella.edu), an accredited online university* that has built its reputation by providing high-quality online degree programs for working adults, has been named a winner of two Blackboard Catalyst Awards for Exemplary Course Programs. The awards honor those who design and develop exciting and innovative courses that represent the best in technology and learning.

The courses, Public Service Leadership and Mental Health Counseling Pre-Practicum, were selected as technologically rich, engaging, well-designed, and pedagogically sound courses that showcase best practices for the Blackboard user community.

"We applaud the Blackboard Catalyst Award winners and their accomplishments," said Ray Henderson, chief technology officer and president of Academic Platforms for Blackboard. "Their work represents some of the most innovative thinking in education today, and offers great models for how technology can help shape an improved education experience. We congratulate the award winners for their leadership, creativity and passion that is clearly evident in their work."

The Exemplary Course awards, a category of the Blackboard Catalyst Awards, specifically recognize Capella's attention to creating courses that emphasize authentic, case-based practice and assessment, as well as a multidisciplinary approach.
