Faculty member with Capella University, an accredited online university, wins award for book on autism and Asperger syndrome

MINNEAPOLIS, June 16, 2011 – Lee Wilkinson, PhD, a faculty member with the Harold Abel School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Capella University (http://www.capella.edu), an accredited online university* that has built its reputation by providing high quality online degree programs for working adults, has won a 2011 Next Generation Indie Book Award for A Best Practice Guide to Assessment and Intervention for Autism and Asperger Syndrome in Schools. The Next Generation Indie Book Awards program was established to recognize and honor the most exceptional independently published books, according to its sponsor, the Independent Book Publishing Professionals Group. Dr. Wilkinson’s book provides a step-by-step guide to screening, assessment and intervention for school-age children with autism spectrum disorders.

A Best Practice Guide to Assessment and Intervention for Autism and Asperger Syndrome in Schools also was short-listed by the National Association for Special Educational Needs in the United Kingdom for its 2011 Special Educational Needs Academic Book of the Year Award, and was a finalist in the education/academic category of the Best Books 2010 awards sponsored by USA Book News.
