MINNEAPOLIS, February 18, 2010 - Laina Molaski, a faculty chair at Capella University, an accredited online university* that has built its reputation by providing high quality online degree programs for working adults, has authored a new book titled "But It's My Business." Molaski, who teaches online courses in human resources and retail management at Capella University (http://www.capella.edu), wrote the book to help small business owners succeed in the current economy. Nearly 34,000 students are pursuing an online degree at Capella, with 33 percent enrolled in Capella's doctoral degree programs, and 48 percent enrolled in Capella's master's degree programs.
"But It's My Business" offers practical advice for starting and running a small business, offering advice on building a brand, promoting a business online, managing finances, and other topics relevant to the small business owner.
"My goal in writing this book was to give people a lot of information about things that a new business owner might not necessarily think about or consider, and do so in a user friendly way," Molaski said. "It's very tongue and cheek and has many real world examples, which makes it very unique. It's not written in a preachy way. It's a very candid and realistic view of how a successful business is run, but it's also fun and easy to digest."
"But It's My Business" is scheduled for release on March 30, and will be available at www.lainamolaski.com, as well as through the Web sites of Amazon, Borders and Barnes Noble. Twenty percent of the profits will be donated to the MS Society. The 150-page book will also have a companion iPhone app and Web site (www.butitsmybusiness.com), which will include templates on how to create a business plan and an employee manual, guidelines on drafting mission and vision statements, tutorials, and more. An e-book version will be available as well.
